Walter launched ZIP WHEEL, the first ultra-thin cutting wheel for portable angle grinders, and ever since it is established as the industry leader in performance and quality. Over the years, ZIP WHEEL has benefited from revolutionary technological changes to what appears at a glance as a simple cutting wheel. And now the best just got even better!
In a market of more than 400 million cutting wheels per year in North America, constant innovation is the key to premium quality. “The cumulative effect of our improvements over the years create serious added value to clients and we are able to demonstrate how our cost-reducing innovations can actually impact their bottom line.” says Tim Houghton, President and COO of Walter Surface Technologies International. ‘’For example, whenever a task requires cutting steel or stainless, workers from coast to coast are finding our new ZIP WHEEL can improve their number of cuts by at least 40% compared to standard cutting wheels and 20% compared to the previous ZIP WHEEL. In total, the worker gets more done without having to work harder. This product achieves the lowest cost per cut in the industry” adds Houghton proudly.
Comparative Performance Test
ZIP WHEEL was put to the test against 9 other brands of industrial cutting wheels. Each wheel had to cut through a ¼’’ hot rolled steel plate until the end of its useful life. For a demonstration, please view: www.walter.com/newzipwheel
The major improvement is in the mix
The new ZIP WHEEL is made of abrasives with an improved engineered formulation, for a wheel that is more durable and has even better cohesion. The patented integrated rib design also enables an operator to cut faster and more comfortably, while using less pressure than standard thin cut-off wheels. Heat is reduced resulting in less discoloration and minimal burr. The new ZIP WHEEL wheels are heavily reinforced for extra safety and yet are very flexible and resistant to twisting and bending. All of these improvements combine to deliver faster cuts, longer disc life, less surface damage, and straighter cuts.
