Transform Automotive Takes Delivery on Dallas Industries Feed Line

Dallas Industries, a leading manufacturer of coil handling, press feeding equipment and controls for the stamping industry has announced that TransForm Automotive LLC., an industry leading manufacturer of powertrain components has taken delivery on a new Dallas Industries feed line.

The fully-synchronized, conventional coil feed line is rated for 30,000 lb. x 60 in. wide aluminum at 9mm thick (steel at 5mm thick). The most unique aspect of this line is the addition of the Dallas “servo-servo” feed technology. “Servo-servo” refers to having a servo motor on both the press feed and the straightener. When the press calls for the feed motion, both the feed and the straightener advance the material in a synchronized manner.

The technology virtually eliminates the typical slack loop and can save significant space.
The line also incorporates a nine-roll straightener with automated straightener roll position (or AutoSet). AutoSet allows for some or all of the adjustable points on a feed line such as straightener rolls, edge guides, coil guides and feed passline to be automatically positioned based on job parameters. The feed line has an automatically-adjusting brake for the reel.

The system includes a scissor-lift threading table with a table top including rollers that lies under the small loop space. The line is built on an Allen-Bradley, Ethernet-based control architecture .
