Specialty Silicone Products (SSP), an innovative supplier of silicone materials and products for aerospace and laboratory applications, has promoted two employees to manufacturing leadership positions and entrusted additional responsibilities to a third. Tim Koon and Derak Covey have been named Production Supervisors for their respective areas and Ron Bushey has been named Production Manager for SSP’s entire Ballston Spa, NY manufacturing facility.
Tim Koon, the new Production Supervisor for laboratory products, is responsible for septa bonding, friction, and bulk cutting. Tim has worked at SSP for nine years and assumed increasing levels of responsibility. Most recently, he served as the backup to the Production Manager for Laboratory Products. In this role, Tim managed much of SSP’s daily septa production.
Derak Covey, the new Production Supervisor for injection molding, automation, packaging and fulfillment products, has also assumed increasing levels of responsibility during his five years with SSP. Most recently, Derak oversaw all of SSP’s injection molding production. In his new role, Derak is responsible for injection molding, automation, packaging and fulfillment.
“In their previous roles, Derak and Tim demonstrated that they can work together and excel at managing their respective production areas,” said Paul DiCaprio, President of SSP. “Already, the changes that they’ve made have had a positive impact on meeting production schedules and delivery dates. I am confident Derak and Tim will continue to work with their teams in making their areas the best they can possibly be.”
In addition to these recent changes, SSP has streamlined decision-making under a single Production Manager. Ron Bushey, the new Production Manager, has worked for SSP for over 11 years and was most recently Industrial Products Production Manager. In his new role, Ron will also manage both Production Supervisors.
“Ron has done an excellent job managing the industrial products manufacturing side and has many years of management experience,” said DiCaprio. “I have all the confidence in the world that Ron, Derak and Tim will continue to work closely together to ensure the manufacturing operation is running as efficiently as possible.”
