Effective April 1, Okuma America Corporation’s Larry Schwartz moves to the position of Chief Strategy Officer and Jim King is promoted to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer.  The move allows Mr. Schwartz to remain a vital part of the Okuma leadership team, provide strategic support to the corporation and allow Mr. King to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business.

Mr. King joined Okuma in January, 2010 as Senior Vice President of Sales, and his 30 years of experience working in industrial markets, automation and control software allowed him to quickly understand the machine tool industry and the needs of the Okuma customers.  In discussing Mr. King’s capabilities, Larry Schwartz comments, “Jim rapidly came up-to-speed in understanding the company and its employees, our mission, vision and commitment to our customers, distributors and partners.  He has forged strong and lasting relationships within the industry, has earned the respect required to guide our company into the future.  We are pleased and honored to have him has our new leader.”

In his new role as Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Schwartz will work closely with Mr. King and the entire Okuma leadership team to ensure Okuma remains an industry leader.  Mr. Schwartz’s 40+ years of experience in the industry has equipped him with a unique perspective on the world of manufacturing, allowing him to offer real help and understanding to job shops and manufacturing plants around the world.  “Under Larry’s leadership, Okuma America Corporation has become a driving force and leader in the machine tool and CNC control world.  His vision of an open-architecture machine tool control became reality, and his desire to serve as a solution provider to manufacturers established the Partners in THINC program.  I look forward to taking the reins and welcome his continued insight and support”, notes Jim King.
