ATLANTA, August 10, 2011 – Siemens Industry, Inc. today introduced two key panels featuring eight large programmable keys and adjustable brightness and color backlighting. Both the SIMATIC® HMI KP8 and KP8F key panels also offer IP65 protection for tough industrial applications.
The panels are pre-assembled and ready to install, eliminating time-consuming assembly and wiring. Additional devices, including pushbuttons, can be connected with eight, rear-mounted programmable inputs/outputs. Additionally, the key panels are equipped with a 2-port Profinet interface and an integral switch.
LED backlighting intensity is easily adjusted to accommodate difficult lighting conditions, including extreme brightness. Background colors are configurable in red, yellow, green, white and blue to signal different machine states. Individual keys can also be configured to flash alerts.
The KP8F is suitable for safety-related applications and is designed with two safety-related inputs. Safety integrity level SIL 2 is achieved in single channel SIL 3 is reached in dual-channel. One or two emergency-off switches can also be connected to attain the desired safety level.
