GF Machining Solutions to Highlight Key Partnerships and New Technology at IMTS

At IMTS 2018, GF Machining Solutions will unveil an innovative new 3D printing system co-developed with 3D Systems and showcase the #78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota Camry of NASCAR Monster Energy Series driver and 2017 series champion Martin Truex Jr. The race car highlights the company becoming an Official Technology Partner of Toyota Racing Development (TRD), which uses GF Machining Solutions machine tools to produce key engine components. Also during IMTS, GF Machining Solutions’ new Mikron MILL P 500 U high-performance milling solution will make its North American debut with powerful, dynamic material removal capabilities and high stiffness.

The GF Machining Solutions partnership with 3D Systems of Rock Hill, South Carolina, includes the development of a new generation of 3D printing solutions, which combines 3D Systems’ additive manufacturing expertise with GF Machining Solutions’ subtractive manufacturing expertise. Over the next few years, the collaboration is expected to develop further solutions for distribution over both companies’ sales networks.

In GF Machining Solutions’ partnership with Toyota Racing Development (TRD), the company now serves as an Official Technical Partner, providing high-performance manufacturing and automation technology for use in producing key aluminum and cast-iron components for 800-horsepower racing engines, such as those used in the #78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota Camry. In addition to the championship car, GF Machining Solutions will display a cutaway power train produced using a fully automated Mikron MILL technology.

The new Mikron MILL P 500 U, which takes precision and part surface finish to a higher level, also enables continuous machining of complex forms and tough materials while shortening process time. The machine’s symmetrical design and thermostability deliver ±2 μm precision and uncompromising process reliability essential to manufacturing parts for aerospace and machinery as well as to making automotive molds, even through long periods of past-paced production.
