Women in Manufacturing® Association Partners with SME to Produce Virtual Career Fairs

Events Will Connect Manufacturing Employers with Job Seekers

The Women in Manufacturing® Association (WiM) will partner with SME (The Society of Manufacturing Engineers) to produce two virtual career fairs in 2023, with the first scheduled for February 9, 2023, and the second to be held at a date to be determined later in the year.

As the only national trade association dedicated to providing year-round support for women in the manufacturing sector, WiM has been holding virtual career fairs for members since 2020. With 90 years of experience and expertise and through the SME Education Foundation, SME is committed to promoting manufacturing technology, developing a skilled workforce and attracting future generations to advance manufacturing. This partnership will allow WiM to expand the number of potential employers and opportunities available at the 2023 career fairs.

With SME’s support as a key partner, the WiM career fairs will provide opportunities for manufacturing employers to connect one-on-one with job seekers from across the country in a convenient virtual platform, and for job seekers to connect with companies that support, promote and inspire women in manufacturing.

“Virtual career fairs are an important part of the way WiM supports members in building their careers,” said Allison Grealis, WiM president and founder. “We are looking forward to this partnership with SME, which will allow us to bring even greater opportunities to candidates in search of their next industry roles. Further, we hope these career fair events are a valuable resource for manufacturing companies in their efforts to recruit more women, something the industry agrees is important for its continued growth and success.”

Expected job candidates include recent college graduates, young professionals, seasoned managers and skilled tradespeople from a multitude of manufacturing fields. All job seekers are welcome to participate and there is no cost to register and participate as a job seeker in the fair.

“SME shares many goals and aspirations with Women in Manufacturing regarding underrepresented groups in manufacturing who seek rewarding, sustaining careers,” said Bob Willig, executive director and CEO of SME. “We look forward to working with WiM on these virtual career fairs and consider them to be an extension of a broader partnership we’ve enjoyed since 2017 across a range of activities that includes events, membership reciprocity, and more.”

In addition to WiM and SME’s partnership on the virtual career fairs, the associations have joined forces to offer discounted membership rates with the full range of benefits for both organizations to students pursuing education in manufacturing-related fields. The SME and WiM alliance gives students more opportunities to earn certifications, apply for scholarships, receive industry-related articles, and participate in innovative events and programming. A one-year WiM and SME student membership is only $40. Learn more here.
