TST & Vero Software Makes Donation to Lawrence Technological University

TSTvero2TST Tooling Software Technology, LLC of Clarkston, MI, and Vero Software, has made an in-kind grant of $750,000 worth of Edgecam software to Lawrence Technological University. This in-kind grant gives LTU students access to the same technology that companies around the world use every day to machine components that are manufactured in a wide variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, defence, machinery, medical, high-tech, and electronics.

According to Assistant Professor Ahad Ali of LTU’s A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical Engineering, “This product will be very helpful to the mechanical engineering students tasked with producing, machining and fabricating parts for class projects.”

TSTvero1In addition, LTU’s Blue Devil Motorsports teams can use the software to create some of the parts needed to assemble their vehicles for international competitions.

“Giving students access to Edgecam will provide them a skill that will be valuable as they enter the workforce,” says TST representative Mark Oakes. “Using Edgecam combines the power of sophisticated toolpath generation with seamless CAD integration, accelerating time to market with true knowledge based machining.”

About Edgecam:
Edgecam’s Workflow is specifically designed allowing manufacturers to reduce costs, improve quality, and meet shorter lead times. The newest release guides the user through the programming process in five easy and quick steps – part setup, stock and fixtures, find features, toolpath creation, and post processing. Once each step is complete, the user moves seamlessly to the next stage, completing each process in turn, resulting in a fully programmed, fully collision-checked part with swift and accurate CNC code generated.

Workflow will have a significant impact on shortening programming time, and because it is so simple to operate, the learning curve for new users is considerably reduced. The traditional CAM commands remain available at all times, and the user can alternate between the two.
