ProtoMAX Abrasive Waterjet from OMAX on Display at PRI

The ProtoMAX, by OMAX, can cut through nearly any material, including steel, aluminum, glass and rubber as well as a variety of plastics. A compact machine footprint, combined with comprehensive versatility, make the ProtoMAX an ideal abrasive waterjet for prototyping, customer fabrication, or as a complement to a larger machine shop.

Perfect for on-the-spot jobs, the pump and cutting table are on casters for easy relocation to anywhere you may need quick custom fabrication. Work material is submerged under water for quiet cutting that won’t disrupt your work space. With its clamshell cover and submerged cutting, ProtoMAX is safe and quiet (approx. 76 db).

Though compact, the ProtoMAX delivers 30,000 psi cutting power with a 5-hp pump. Like all OMAX abrasive waterjets, the ProtoMAX cuts with no heat-affected zone and no change to the material properties. The ProtoMAX plugs into a 240V AC outlet and does not require any hardwiring.

OMAX’s Intelli-MAX® Proto software controls the ProtoMAX is controlled. The software comes pre-installed on an included laptop for easy use. Our powerful software makes converting drawings to cutting paths easy. Vice President of marketing at OMAX Corporation Stephen Bruner comments, “It’s easy to program even complex paths on the ProtoMAX. We’ve taken many of the same popular CAD/CAM software features that we use in our industrial waterjet systems and incorporated them into the compact ProtoMAX waterjet. Behind the scenes, the software uses sophisticated waterjet cutting models that predict the jet’s precise behavior when cutting different materials, thicknesses and shapes. But the user interface is simple and straightforward, making it an ideal learning tool for computer-aided manufacturing.”

See the ProtoMAX at PRI December 6th thru the 8th at the Indiana Convention Center, booth 5373.
