OMAX Highlights Versatility, Productivity at FABTECH 2016
FABTECH booth experience gives visitors first-hand look at the possibilities of waterjet technology
OMAX Corporation will provide a comprehensive and customized machining experience through real-world cutting demonstrations, live applications assistance and interactive educational opportunities at the upcoming FABTECH 2016 show taking place November 16 –18, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In booth C27047, OMAX will feature the robust bridge-style OMAX 80X, equipped with Tilt-A-Jet® and Rotary Axis, along with the accurate, cost-effective MAXIEM® 1530 with an A-Jet®. Powered by OMAX’s user-friendly Intelli-MAX® Software Suite, both machines will tackle a variety of real-world cutting challenges in a wide range of materials.
Incredibly versatile, OMAX abrasive waterjets can cut complex parts out of nearly any material, including but not limited to metal, plastic, glass, ceramics, stone and composites. The easy-to-use Intelli-MAX software supports more than 90 different part file formats, including standard 2D DXF files and advanced 3D shapes. Unlike other material removal processes, waterjet systems can also cut extremely hard, reflective and nonconductive materials, making it a highly efficient and productive alternative.
“We want FABTECH visitors to experience first-hand how the speed, performance and versatility of abrasive waterjet technology can meet their application challenges regardless of the industries they serve,” explained Stephen Bruner, vice president of marketing for OMAX. “Waterjet technology creates a wealth of opportunity for shops looking to grow, and we’re excited to showcase the possibilities.”
As part of the immersive booth experience, live cutting demonstrations will highlight the unmatched precision, taper-free cutting and 3D cutting capabilities of the company’s Tilt-A-Jet and A-Jet technologies as well as the ease of use of waterjet machining provided by minimal fixturing requirements, no tool change outs and simple software programming. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try out OMAX’s Intelli-MAX software to see first-hand how the software dramatically increases the speed and ease of part programming.
Also in the booth, application specialists and certified OMAX technicians will be on hand to address general and specific questions about cutting speeds, material thicknesses, cycle times, tolerances and maintenance best practices.
About our featured technology at FABTECH
The OMAX 80X JetMachining® Center quickly and accurately cuts a wide range of materials and thicknesses for large-scale components and multi-part projects, and handles materials from metals to advanced composites to non-tempered glass. The 80X features the company’s exclusive 100-hp EnduroMAX® pump that allows for faster part processing with 60,000 psi continuous operation, lower operating costs and a longer operating life than competitive designs.
The Tilt-A-Jet’s advanced automated taper compensation achieves virtually zero taper for the precision cutting of parts with square, taper-free edges, including interlocking pieces and dove tail fittings, all while maintaining extremely high cutting rates. With the water-resistant Rotary Axis head for complex 3D parts production, the OMAX machine’s capabilities expand to cut in as many as 6 axes.
The MAXIEM 1530 JetMachining Center offers machining advantages in a cost-
efficient, industry-standard waterjet machine. Designed, assembled and tested in the United States, the MAXIEM 1530 is ideal for fabrication shops, metal service centers, trade schools, job shops as well as architectural, sign, stone and gasket shops. The A-Jet cuts accurate beveled edges at angles determined by the machine operator or by the part program and positions to accuracies of ± 0.09 degrees (± 6 arc minutes), making the accessory the most accurate articulated cutting head of its kind in the industry. OMAX’s Rapid Water Level Control allows for quiet and clean submerged cutting and fits on all MAXIEM JetMachining Centers.
Both machines at the show will be powered by efficient OMAX direct drive pumps which deliver more than 90 percent of the electrical input power to the cutting nozzle, providing higher cutting speeds than other pumps with the same size electric motor and power consumption.
