TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG has expanded the floor space for its product development and manufacturing activities at Grüsch, Switzerland by approximately 3,300 square meters (35,500 square feet). The investment for the new building comes to 17 million Swiss francs ($17.8 million USD). Approximately 150 guests took place in opening ceremonies on June 4, 2013, after just over a year of construction work on the new building.

With this new structure TRUMPF supports the tremendous world-wide demand for its marking lasers. “Our previous capacities were simply no longer able to handle the numbers of incoming orders. At groundbreaking in March 2012, orders had risen by 70 percent in comparison with the year before. This will certainly support our plans for continuing growth,” explains Andreas Conzelmann, general manager at TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG.

TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG plans to introduce two new TruMark product lines during the upcoming business year. The new structure doubles the production floor space formerly available. The building is outfitted with the most modern technology and an isolated clean room meeting high cleanliness standards – significant in terms of product quality. The manufacturing and logistics processes in this new building are fully aligned with the TRUMPF Synchro production system. All the work is now carried out on a single level for easier control of the procedures. This new structure also provides for significant improvement in manufacturing and logistics processes. Founded in 2001, TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG supports product development, production, service and administration. More than thirty employees will manufacture marking lasers in the new building.

With this new structure, TRUMPF is making a clear commitment to the Grüsch campus in Prättigau Valley, in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. “Second only to Schramberg, Germany, Grüsch is a major center for the development and production of solid-state lasers. Ten thousand marking lasers already in place give us good reason to look optimistically into the future,” reported Peter Leibinger, Vice Chairman of the TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG and President of the Laser Technology and Electronics Division.

Barkow Leibinger architectural offices in Berlin, Germany were responsible for planning and supervising the construction of the building. The pavilion blends in harmoniously with the Alpine panorama and the TRUMPF buildings already in place at Grüsch. When planning and erecting the building, great attention was given to sustainability. Wood and other renewable materials were selected for the building and above all, only resources available in abundant quantities – including gravel, limestone and glass – were used in construction. The building is also distinguished by the ergonomically correct design of its workplaces.
