Supports Industry 4.0
The NLX 4000 is a powerful and versatile machine that is well suited to making a wide range of complex parts. In addition to the larger diameter, the new DMG MORI NLX 4000s expands JR Machine’s production capacity, while its CELOS controls help increase production efficiency and quality by providing data that supports JR Machine’s Industry 4.0 efforts. The NLX 4000s also feature:
- High rigidity for improved accuracy
- The largest through spindle hole diameter in its class for larger diameter parts
- Improved milling power
- High precision through coolant circulation that controls thermal displacement, allowing for greater accuracy
- Reduced energy consumption
Nickel-based Superalloys Expertise
In recent years JR Machine has perfected its ability to machine complex parts from nickel-based superalloys such as Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and others. These materials are extremely difficult to machine but are required by many emerging industries due to their strength, durability, and resistance to high-temperatures and corrosion. JR Machine has emerged as one of the few machine shops that are skilled at working with these superalloys, thanks in part to the consistency and accuracy of its family of DMG MORI equipment. JR Machine is committed to replacing its CNC machines once they are 10 years old, ensuring the company is working with modern, efficient technology.
“The ability to machine complex parts up to 18-inches in diameter, and possibly larger, allows us to better serve our existing customers and opens doors to working with new companies,” explained Parker Tumanic, JR Machine President. “Our shop is exclusively DMG MORI equipment so our staff can be more efficient. The accuracy of the equipment combined with the skill of our technicians makes us the perfect partner for companies looking for high-mix, low-volume parts made from nickel-based superalloys.”
Leadership and Facility Updates
The new DMG MORI equipment comes at an exciting time for JR Machine. The company recently announced the additions of David Verhoff as Executive Vice President and Matt Shambeau as Operations Manager to support the company’s growth. Both have extensive backgrounds in manufacturing and share JR Machine’s commitment to customer service.
JR Machine has also made physical updates to its facility, opening an Engineering Center to help further streamline production, while building out a state-of-the-art Tooling Storage Room. The tooling storage room allows machine operators to quickly check out the necessary tooling, while automatically updating inventory records. The inventory information is shared with JR Machine’s tooling partner, Badger Mills Supply, who restocks necessary tooling twice per week, to ensure production doesn’t slow or stop due to out-of-stock tooling.
