Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced today Hexagon thought leader Ashley Kerth is joining the speaker lineup at the AeroDef Manufacturing® Conference, April 29 – May 2, 2019, Long Beach Convention Center, in Long Beach, CA. Kerth is the lead Product Strategist for a new additive manufacturing initiative at Hexagon. He will give a presentation on Tuesday, April 30, 3:30pm – 3:55pm in the AeroDef Conference track focused on Quality and Inspection Techniques. Produced by SME, AeroDef Manufacturing is a dedicated conference for the aerospace and defense manufacturing industries, attracting more than 2,600 professionals worldwide in 2018.
Kerth’s presentation entitled Asset Management for Metrology will cover Asset Performance Management (APM) for machine tools and the impact of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in this area. He will discuss traditional Asset Performance Management and the problems it addresses, as well as the application of APM to metrology in order to drive data feedback into manufacturing and engineering processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost. Ashley’s technical background includes training development and implementation of leading PLM, CAD/CAM/CAE products, as well as manufacturing complex aero engine, airframe, defense and space-related CNC machined components and assemblies.
Mr. Kerth will further explain how the application of IIoT principles to metrology can unlock additional benefits beyond the traditional machine tool APM. Because metrology represents the point in the manufacturing process where the as-manufactured part is realized, the measurement IIoT information can provide automated feedback loops into manufacturing and engineering to lower scrap rates, improve manufacturing inputs and provide the part digital twin.
