On Thursday, October 18 at 8:45am, Mr. Cobb will present “Shaping the Future of Manufacturing.” His keynote session will present a frontline view on how emerging technologies, processes and production methods are transforming the world of manufacturing. Cobb will discuss concepts of connectivity and the importance of linking systems and information together. He will address the role model-based engineering plays in the tools, connectivity, data analysis and quality in the organization. The presentation will also cover the changing workforce and its impact on the enterprise. Attendees looking to leverage the benefits of Smart Factory practices will find Cobb’s outlook on the future both helpful and exciting. As Director of Engineering and R&D in North America, Zachary Cobb is part of a global team responsible for the design, development and support for Hexagon stationary and portable coordinate measurement machines and accessory products. Zack previously served in engineering management roles at Loud Technologies in Massachusetts and Mackie Designs in Reggio Emilia, Italy, where he led teams in the development of professional sound reinforcement products. Gaining expertise in engineering management at an international level, he learned the value of cross cultural awareness and its importance to engineers working in a global organization. Cobb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Hexagon will also have a booth at the ASQ Inspection Division Conference. Attendees will get a first hand look at the new-to-market portable Absolute Arm. With a ground-up redesign based on customer feedback, the measurement arm features an innovative modular wrist design that allows both the RS5 Laser Scanner and the pistol grip to be completely removed, facilitating easy probing in tight spaces. The new wrist now features a display screen for viewing measurement results, profile switching and calibration right at the point of measurement, reducing the time spent switching attention between the arm and its control computer. The Absolute Arm offers improvements in all functional areas — accuracy, speed, weight, efficiency, serviceability and versatility. The product began shipping worldwide in September 2018.
