Concentric AB, the leading manufacturer of pumps for diesel engines and hydraulic systems, has completed the latest phase of an ongoing international investment programme at its factory in Birmingham, UK.
The investment in Birmingham reflects the company’s commitment to deliver industry benchmark manufacturing in all its plants round the world in line with the demand for Concentric products. The trigger for this latest phase was a series of orders from new and existing customers over the last 18 months for oil, water, fuel and transmission pumps.
Dedicated manufacturing cells were created, equipped with sophisticated new CNC machining centres from DMG Mori Seki and Fanuc and backed by automated assembly. Other new facilities include advanced washing, measurement, inspection and test equipment.
In addition, the programme has embraced a major refurbishment of the Birmingham factory with new roofing and heating, automatic controlled lighting and split-air ring mains, giving each manufacturing cell its own independent power supply. The result has been to achieve significant improvements in energy use, noise abatement and the overall working environment.
David Woolley, President and CEO of Concentric AB commented: “We take enormous pride in our manufacturing facilities and recognize the importance of investment helping to deliver world-class capability. This in turn is driven by the Concentric Business Excellence programme which is designed to improve all key areas of our operations, including leadership, business planning, and optimal management of our people, the supply chain, our processes and customers.”
