Hiring Guard, Vets: Trained, Ready to Work – Urgent Need

Hiring National Guard members, veterans and their spouses is good for business and the nation, as a growing number of employers are finding out.  More than 800 employers have registered and are posting jobs in the national campaign to help connect employers and military.

The American Jobs for America’s Heroes (AJAH) campaign, made up of more than 100 trade and professional associations, non-profit organizations, and state Chambers of Commerce representing more than 150,000 companies nationwide, is a non-profit alliance with the National Guard to help unemployed National Guard members, veterans and spouses find skilled jobs in the private sector.  In the past 18 months, more than 800 employers have registered to post jobs.

The National Guard trains in 107 occupational specialties, making the men and women of the National Guard, like their veteran counterparts, among the most highly qualified employment candidates in America.  Tens of thousands of Guard and veterans are now seeking employment.  According to most sources, as many as 60,000 National Guard members are currently unemployed.

Phillips 66, an energy manufacturing and logistics company (NYSE:PSX), is the lead national sponsor for this campaign.

Job postings made by employers are plugged directly into the National Guard Employment Network.  Hundreds of state National Guard employment counselors are working one-on-one with candidates and employers to match them to jobs.  There are no fees to participating companies or job candidates.
