At the Wichita Industrial Trade Show (WITS) 2017, RÖHM Products of America showed its strength as a one-stop clamping and gripping supplier by presenting a wide range of workholding innovations. Among the products on display were several solutions that fulfill industry demands for increased efficiency, ergonomics, weight reduction and convenience. These included the Power-Grip Zero Point Clamping System and the company’s RZM and RKE vises.
The Power-Grip Zero Point Clamping System delivers both palletizing and clamping capabilities – all with one device and in single setups – to significantly increase productivity, process reliability and precision, as well as cut set-up times by up to 90 percent. The new modular palletizing system is customizable to make the best use of a machine tool’s entire work-envelope space. Machine tool output also increases because the system allows workpieces to be positioned and clamped on the pallet outside the machine tool while it continues to work.
Also on display at WITS were several robust vise solutions that contribute to significantly higher accuracy in 5-axis machining. The compact RZM Centric Vise features clamping jaws positioned relatively high and a horizontal spindle situated at the top of the vise and closer to the jaws for unmatched stability. The jaws are shorter and complement the vise’s overall compact height of only 7.7″ to keep interference to a minimum, while RÖHM’s special double jaw-guidance system ensures precision positioning.
Another compact vise, the RKE NC-Compact Vise clamping system further optimizes high working accuracy in CNC machining centers. Featuring a solid steel body with its contact surfaces and guides hardened and ground on all sides, the RKE NC-Compact Vise offers excellent chip discharge with fewer interfering contours. Furthermore, protective caps and dirt protectors prevent chips from penetrating the inside of the vise body.
