T/CCI Manufacturing Introduces First Rotary Vane Compressor Designed Specifically for Small Construction and Agriculture Equipment

OEM compressor provides smaller size, less noise and vibration, lower cost with higher capacity and more durability than compressors 25% larger

T/CCI Manufacturing, a world leader in compressor technology including reciprocating, swash plate, wobble plate, and variable compressor designs, is introducing the first rotary vane compressor designed specifically for the construction and agriculture aftermarket. The QPRV Rotary Vane compressor provides a new OEM drop-in solution that is durable, compact, less expensive than a standard piston type compressor, and designed to provide performance that far exceeds equivalent displacement compressors.

“The QPRV is a result of customer demand in the construction and agriculture markets,” T/CCI President Richard Demirjian said. “The 5H wobble plates are reliable compressors, but the designs are fifty years old and expensive to replace. The QPRV has been precisely machined to outperform any other solution for this market segment. In addition to durability, performance and cost savings, this new compressor model is highly tolerant to a number of issues presented by small compact tractors and provides an all-in-one economic solution to industries in which every operating minute counts.”

A new technology designed by T/CCI engineers, this small compressor works with small displacement engines that have tight mounting constraints. The unique dual elipse cylinder with a 5 vane rotor provides extremely low gas pulsations and better NVH than other piston type compressors. Torque shock at clutch engagement is improved as well due to the radial design of a rotary compressor. The QPRV Rotary Vane compressor is very liquid tolerant, so it provides a solution to thermal migration, which has been a consistent pain point with customers.

“The rotary vane compressor provides a very fine niche for this market segment,” T/CCI Director of Engineering, Dick Ennis said. “One of the limitations of small compact construction equipment is the HVAC module ends up on top of the cab which lends itself to periods of refrigerant thermal migration as the equipment is normally stored outdoors. This migration results in extreme slugging events with piston type compressors leading to catastrophic failures. The QPRV makes this issue obsolete.”

The T/CCI team of engineers has over 100 years combined of rotary compressor design and development experience. As the technology has evolved, they’ve retooled the design to meet the needs and demand of this particular market segment.

Other design features of the new QPRV Rotary Vane compressors include: higher operating speed capability, higher capacity, improved clutch design, no internal bearings, extremely compact design, improved low friction coatings on the internal side plates, and proven longer compressor life under adverse operating enviornments and conditions.

The QPRV Rotary Vane compressor is available now and being distributed to OEM dealers through the United States, Europe, South America and Asia.
