Star SU had two booths again this year – one in the gear pavilion in the North hall and another in the West hall showcasing our cutting tool technology.

Samputensili SG 160 SKY GRIND gear dry grinding machine
Star SU offers the Samputensili SG 160, the first gear dry grinding machine in the world that can grind gears without using coolant. This extraordinary machine removes most of the stock allowance with the first pass using a hobbing tool. The second finishing pass, carried out at a grinding wheel, removes the remaining stock without overheating the workpiece, therefore resulting in a completely dry process. Its innovative structure with two spindles actuated by linear motors and the use of more channels simultaneously ensure a chip-to- chip time of less than two seconds. Star XTG Tool and Cutter Grinder
The XTG 575 showcases the latest in technology offered by Star, where precision comes standard. This state of the art, five axis linear tool and cutter grinder was engineered to regrind AND manufacture complex cutting tools in both high and low volume applications. With 575 mm of Z axis travel this machine has impressive long tool capability. Design features include a mineral cast base for increased damping and thermal stability performance, 1,000 rpm work head, and a (4) station HSK wheel changer. The machine is ideal for high mix, low volume jobs due to its quick setup and stability. Partnered with NUMROTO software, the XTG 575 is ready for anything from the daily grind to cutting edge prototypes. Bourn & Koch 400 H CNC horizontal hobbing machine
The H80/100/160/200 series is the latest version of our hobbing machine line for small applications, specially engineered for automotive. These machines have been designed for dry cutting operations in particular, although using oil or emulsion is possible. Now this machine is available with an optional extended radial travel, incorporating the working range of the H80 up to the H200. The new CNC tailstock, driven by a servomotor, is standard now and allows the easy setup of programming and monitoring of the clamping force and position. The closed “O-frame” structure with cross beam allows the ideal integration of this tailstock. These new features, combined with the user-friendly FFG Modul operating interface, provide also the optimal base for Job Shop applications. FFG Werke Modul H200 vertical hobbing machine
The H 80/100/130/160/200 series is the latest version of our hobbing machine line for small automotive applications, specially engineered for automotive applications. These machines have been designed for dry cutting applications in particular, although using oil or emulsion is not a problem. Chips are conveyed cleanly from the work area by means of a chute, which is steep and smooth in design to prevent any build up. The hob head is housed within the tool column, which is tightly fastened to the sturdy machine bed. The tailstock is located on the tool column above the hob head, leaving the work area remarkably free for workpiece loading and unloading operations.
