On Tuesday September 11th Dan Reed, owner of R&R Tool, Inc. and inventor of the ‘Lightnin Rod’ will leave his booth and hold a Press Conference in the Media Briefing Room at 2:30pm to unveil their most innovative product yet, the LR7000.
The LR7000 notifies the operator of a gap between the work piece of any material and the stop. Maintaining a precise location when machining seems simple to the naked eye, but when chips, and pieces of the milled work piece begin to jam in between your part and the stop the smallest shift can cause your part to fall out of conformance; leading to time and money wasted by scrapping the part, or re-working it. Previous Lightnin Rod models have only been able to detect placement within .0002” of ferrous materials, although the LR7000 opens the technology up to all materials.
How often do small errors occur that cause parts to read out of print? Many times engineers and operators tediously review the process just to find that the part must have been loaded incorrectly, or shifted during processing unknown to the operator. Or, how do you begin to train an operator to replace your experienced machinist who had the ‘feel’ of placing the work piece and tightening the vise just right before machining? Sure a shim stock can provide a temporary fix for this new employee, but how much time are they truly wasting? In today’s competitive market it’s essential to get the job done right the first time, and fast.
By having a LR7000 on your machine the operator simply loads the work piece, watches for the Blue light, tightens the vise ensuring the blue light is lit and begins to machine. Not only does this technology reduce your miss-loads, it also signals the operator of a shift during machining. This fully sealed unit remains illuminated under high flow coolants, communicating to the operator that the part has not moved away from the stop. Durable Vise Mount and Table Mount applications allow for quick and easy location around your shop.
Sit back and relax. Let the Lightnin Rod work for you. Enjoy the benefits of saving time and money, training your operators with ease, and increasing their confidence level all with one product.
