3D Platform™ (3DP), a global leader in manufacturing large- format, industrial-strength 3D printers, is pleased to announce they have been selected by Cuz-D Industries, Inc. to build a custom 3D printer capable of printing mini homes with recycled materials. These new technologies will be instrumental in developing the rapid, cost-effective, and efficient construction of mini homes where there is high demand.
Why 3D Print a Home?
Cuz-D Industries has conceptualized a design that would make it possible to print a studio size, mini home complete with basic utilities, radiant heat, full bathroom, and kitchenette. These designs will allow for rapid housing solutions at an economic pricing structure where needed, such as in disaster relief, homeless rehousing, or recreational and ADU use. These homes will be constructed using 3D printing technologies and a revolutionary new plastics recycling process. This new rapid housing process stands to simultaneously help reduce costs and ease the environmental burden that plastics are having on land and in oceans.
The Search
After coming up with the basic framework of the design and potential solution, Cuz-D began looking for a partner to help finalize plans and construct a giant 3D printer to match their project needs. For their search, Cuz-D used key criteria in the process of vetting different large-format 3D printing companies:
- Are they Reliable?
- Are they scalable? (Can they handle the size of this project?)
- Are they in front of the curve with new technology?
- Do they have honesty/integrity? (This was important to Cuz-D, because as they stated, many of the companies they looked at had a very templated ‘pitch’ that did not seem genuine.)
- Do they have the capabilities? (Have they built projects like this in the past?)
Once several companies were interviewed, Cuz-D reached out to 3DP for an in-depth conversation. They found Jonathan Shroeder, President of 3DP, to be very knowledgeable and subsequently instill confidence and add value to their project.
“After looking at the various companies out there it became obvious to our entire team that 3DP would be an excellent partner. 3DP is a proven company that offers scalable and creative solutions to meet our design needs, and we look forward to working with them.”
— Jake Cuzdey, President of Cuz-D Industries, Inc.
