IML Technology (In-Mould Labelling) for Food and Non-Food Applications

Beck Automation AG presents new BASIC IML Variant

Attractive value-for-money bucket manufacture with twin cavities up to 5 litres

The BASIC IML series from Beck Automation AG, Oberengstringen, Switzerland, is now also available for two cavities. The new variant is suitable for 1 to 5 litre buckets. The machine can of course also be operated with only one cavity. This model complements the established and successful BASIC IML model, which is particularly deployed for buckets with product sizes from 5 to 33 litres and was designed for one cavity.

The basic structure of the BASIC IML system comprises a stable and compact machine frame. The rapid movements are made possible thanks to the robust machine frame and the use of high-performance servo motors made by Beckhoff.
As with all custom IML systems from Beck Automation, the BASIC IML systems also use high quality materials to ensure the long life of the machines. In addition, during development a lot of emphasis was placed on speed, ergonomics and dynamics; this has resulted in the BASIC IML system that is in no way inferior to customer-specific systems.

The new dual BASIC IML system for up to two cavities (stacking side)

The new BASIC IML system with two cavities has an impressively short and attractive delivery time, just like the first BASIC IML model. Standardised construction means the system can be delivered ex-works just 12 weeks after receipt of order.

Along with numerous “Beck standards” already available in the basic version, great emphasis is also placed on high levels of flexibility. Round, rectangular or oval products of between 1 – 5 litres, with cavity spacing of 300mm – 575mm are all possible. The arrangement of the two cavities must be horizontal. The included rotary cores, which correctly orient the label, are already available in the BASIC IML system. The BASIC IML system offers a variety of additional standardized options that expand the range of applications.

The new BASIC IML system for up to two cavities is supplied with rotary cores as standard.

The labels are removed from the magazine and centered, ready for application. The labels are retrieved cyclically and positioned directly on the cores. The labels are electrostatically charged and fixed in position in the mould by means of our newly developed sintered cores. Simultaneously, the injection-moulded products are removed from the ejector side of the machine and the finished products are stacked directly on the conveyor belt.

The main arm, which enters the open injection moulding machine from the side, is mounted on a stable linear axis. This consists of an aluminum profile with precision tracks and is driven via a robust toothed belt by a dynamic servo motor. All components are designed for continuous operation and require very little maintenance.

Rapid movements are realised with the new BASIC IML system for up to two cavities through the application of high-quality materials as well as high-performance servo motors.

The system is controlled and operated with the new Beckhoff control concept, which uses a touchscreen panel. The intuitive menu navigation facilitates the operation of the BASIC IML system. Operating status, menu navigation, error messages and other information are displayed on-screen. The BASIC IML system from Beck Automation meets the highest safety and international ergonomic standards. The design also guarantees the highest levels of process stability and service life.
