UNITED GRINDING Opens Plant Doors Virtually to Local Educators

On September 22 from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., UNITED GRINDING North America will open its doors to educational leaders from 23 Montgomery County, Ohio, school districts for a live-streamed virtual tour that supports the community’s educational progress and the future of local students. Conducted in coordination with the Montgomery County Educational Service Center, this event is designed to bring UNITED GRINDING closer to its community as well as its customers.

Jacob Baldwin, UNITED GRINDING Director of Corporate Marketing, will lead the virtual tour, showcasing the company’s facility and its high-tech environment. A question-and-answer session with Markus Stolmar, President and CEO, and Amy Luther, Director of Human Resources, will give virtual visitors a chance to explore the role of manufacturing as a community and career resource.

As an enduring champion of local education, UNITED GRINDING has taken advantage of in-person events such as Manufacturing Day to show educators, students and their parents how rewarding, progressive and safe manufacturing careers can be. “UNITED GRINDING is a forward-thinking organization that has successfully adapted to changing conditions to accommodate community and customer engagement,” Baldwin said.

This tour represents yet another way in which UNITED GRINDING has adjusted its operations and approach through technology to expand customer and community engagement in the face of the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. Employee meetings, customer and dealer training sessions, machine demonstrations and more have moved to virtual live-streamed events supplemented with recorded machine demonstrations along with virtual and video machine runoffs, all designed to ensure business continuity, keep customers supplied and production moving forward. With this virtual tour, the company invites its community even closer to the heart of its operations.

Bryan Stewart, MCESC Workforce Director, emphasized the importance of business/community connections. “Our region’s schools are committed to learning about the needs of local employers,” he said. “Education isn’t stopping – even during COVID-19. We aim to connect local education leaders to business leaders to foster dialogue and learn about the needs of today’s changing workforce.”

A leading manufacturer of abrasive grinding, erosion, laser ablation and optical measuring machines, UNITED GRINDING embraces its industry’s role in helping local education leverage technology to expand students’ opportunities to learn about STEM careers. As a local business with a dedicated commitment to Montgomery County’s economic and social well being, the company strives to make its adjustments to challenging conditions and to uphold the best interests of its community.

The Montgomery County Educational Service Center provides a robust array of educational services to 16 public school districts in Montgomery County and more than 90 educational entities in multiple counties across the Greater Dayton region. MCESC also is home to Learn to Earn Dayton, which fosters Montgomery County’s children’s success from birth till college graduation or career entry.
