MESA Expands Smart Manufacturing Training Program with CESMII Partnership

The Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA) International announced a strengthening of its working relationship with CESMII, the Smart Manufacturing Institute located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

CESMII turned to MESA to educate its members with a Smart Manufacturing Training program that includes: access to MESA’s online courses, access to a select group of MESA’s peer-reviewed research such as white papers and guidebooks, and two instructor-led, introductory-level courses on Smart Manufacturing held at CESMII’s Annual Meeting.

The courses were 2-hour truncated programs pulled from MESA’s established Global Education Program and MESA’s newly launched Online Learning Center.

1. The Journey to Smart Manufacturing:
   This online course provides an introduction to Smart Manufacturing, the logical progression of all previous eras known as Industrial Revolutions. It outlines the Who, What, Why and When of Smart Manufacturing, as well as providing an overview of a number of organizations involved in this movement to the future.

2. Smart Manufacturing Justification & ROI:
   This online course introduces the concepts and major components required to complete an ROI and justification, incorporating some examples from MES/MOM. It also provides guidance about the kinds of questions that need to be answered throughout the process and the various considerations that need to be included in the calculations.

Commenting on the training event and relationship with CESMII, MESA’s Executive Director, Brandy Richardson, said, “The CESMII Annual Meeting was a great success – not only in terms of educating a few hundred people on Smart Manufacturing but also in terms of working more closely with CESMII. They have a mandate to educate the US manufacturing ecosystem, while MESA has a similar focus on a global scale. The more closely we can work with like-minded organizations to share a common understanding of Smart Manufacturing, the better it will be for everyone.”

CESMII is part of the Manufacturing USA network of institutes, each with a specialized focus to improve manufacturing competitiveness in the US. Their mandate is to democratize Smart Manufacturing, recognizing that Smart Manufacturing business, technology and workforce practices in the hands of all manufacturers open new opportunities for all.

MESA is currently expanding training programs like CESMII’s partnership to other groups such as supply chains, economic development groups, universities, financial groups and other associations.
