Guill’s Sales Rep Manager and Sales Executive Pleased with ChinaPlas

Tom Baldock, the sales representative manager at Guill Tool & Engineering was pleased with the success of the company at the show. He discussed his thoughts about Chinaplas, what sets Guill apart from other companies and the high level of interest from clients all over the world. Matt Christofaro, the Sales Executive at Guill Tool talked about the reasons behind exhibiting at ChinaPlas, the company’s expectations, questions asked, show interactions, and the importance of attending ChinaPlas yearly.

Both Tom Baldock and Matt Christofaro made the decision to attend ChinaPlas. Baldock was very impressed with the show, particularly the vastness of it and the quality of the machines exhibited. Although he has been attending trade shows for 42 years, Baldock said that he had not seen anything like ChinaPlas before.

According to Baldock, Guill distinguishes itself through its multi-layer co-extrusion dies, innovation and level of quality. The company is well known for its 5 layer structure and can manufacture dies with 6 and even 7 layers. While constantly striving for innovation, Guill has maintained a very high quality standard. They can provide very accurate tolerances for a variety of products.

Regarding customer interest, Baldock was extremely pleased. Many people had stopped by and several were interested in working with Guill directly, instead of OEM companies. International interest was present, as one potential client came from Iran. Guill provides quick and efficient customer support to all clients. Baldock mentioned that a Turkish company sent their dies to Guill for refurbishing. The company’s personnel solved the problem and sent them back within one week.

Christofaro said that Guill decided to exhibit at ChinaPlas “to support its initiative to gain market share in the medical extrusion market. Even though many local companies make extrusion tooling, it’s unlikely that many match the company’s precision engineering and machining in the medical device industry. Furthermore, he mentioned that Guill’s expectations for the event were fulfilled, as they were looking for a Chinese representative and found several candidates that were highly qualified.

One frequently asked question that Christofaro received was whether Guill tooling was made in the U.S. All the company’s manufacturing takes place in the U.S, in the same facility where machining for government contracts occurs. Visitors also asked how the company’s new reciprocating die works to create a continuous transitional tube. At ChinaPlas, Guill met some of their customers, extruder builders and heater manufacturers.

From this experience, both Christofaro and Baldock realized that they should make attending the show a priority in order for the Chinese market to know more about Guill. In fact, the company has already registered for 2020.

Lastly, Christofaro was surprised by the amount of companies exhibiting who manufacture and sell entire lines. He concluded, “There is so much possible business to do in China, but we’ll have to stick with what we do best to compete — tight tolerance tubing for the medical industry.”
